Melanie Sterba makes the streets of Zurich the public stage of her art.
For about half a year, more than 2000 of her small sculptures have been in circulation and every week more are numbered, stamped and provided with a QR code for scanning. These small figures are the street art project "TakeAwayArt", with the theme of De-Evolution - Stagnation.
The goal of the Zurich sculptor and artist is to surprise the discoverer of these sculptures as much as possible. Whomever finds it, makes the decision. Take it with you or leave it? Place in another place, in another country or even on another continent or just set up at home? Collect or give away? Numerous reactions via social media confirm her intention and show the enthusiasm for her innovative street art. Every day Melanie receives photos and messages from finders, fans and collectors.
The fandom of "TakeAwayArt" is growing from day to day. Known for her distinctive tailor-made outfits, Melanie Sterba and her unique art simply inspire everyone!
The successfully sold-out exhibition "marbled facts" 2022/23 is now followed by the exhibition No from 7.6.2024 to 20.7.2024 in the Galerie Nicola von Senger, Zürich. You can view similar figures that have appeared in the streets, now enlarged, in Carrara marble, with silver highlights and black coating. The stunning material transfer will fascinate, requiring the viewer to examine them precisely. While the production techniques of the sculptures, combined with their perspective, maximally reinforces the message of their meaning.
