Arco - ART & NATURE INSIDE OUT

Arco
Arco, the new art promotion circle, is pleased to present Art & Nature: Inside Out, a group exhibition curated by Diana Segantini and promoted by the Augusto Rancilio Foundation in collaboration with Segantini Unlimited, which opens to the public on 6th April and continues until 12th October. This innovative platform, in line with the values expressed by Arco, intends to merge art and nature in an itinerary that stimulates dialogue between the historical beauty of the place and contemporary research, involving the art world in all its expressions: artists, historical sites, critics, curators and galleries.
The exhibition involves 40 international artists, showing established profiles, as well as emerging artists, who will explore the spaces of the 17th century villa and the surrounding nature with a particular sensitivity not only to artistic expression, but also to architecture.
The featured artists are: Not Vital, Miroslaw Balka, Stephan Balkenhol, Mattia Bosco, Barbara Chase Ribaud, Caroline Christie-Coxon, Gianluca Di Pasquale, Barbara De Ponti, Lugia Dias, Jürgen Drescher, Simon Dybbroe Møller, Bruna Esposito, Chung Eun-Mo, Nicola Ghirardelli, Cristóbal Gracia, Gabriele Heidecker, Diango Hernández, Melli Ink, Zoe Koke, Kimsooja, Jannis Kounellis, Joseph La Piana, Lisa Lurati, Angela Lyn, Jacques Martinez, Conor Mccreedy, Giuseppe Penone, Solange Pessoa, Alessandro Piangiamore, Carlo Ramous, Glen Rubsamen, Suzanne Santoro, Francesco Simeti, Nedko Solakov, Melanie Sterba, Una Szeemann, Federico Tosi, Luca Vitone.
This large number of selected works creates an opportunity to experience the sumptuous building, through the rooms of the villa, the stables, the orangery and the park. The works are set up in a way to enjoy both the spaces and the contemporary artistic expression.
Arco is more than an exhibition, it is a cultural movement that reflects in a new way on contemporary research by creating an arch between cultural heritage and contemporary art, fostering a space of co- creation to encourage dialogue, reflection and transformation among the figures that animate the art world. Arco intends to propose situations that reflect on how art is experienced, by building a diverse community involving artists, galleries, curators, academics and art lovers.
Art & Nature: Inside Out
Art & Nature: Inside Out is the first edition of the Arco project, a special Salon based at Villa Arconati, where a dynamic, inclusive and sustainable artistic community can emerge and florish. Particular attention is given to sustainability, through the using of eco-conscious materials and production processes, and with a project aimed at developing a sensitivity in reducing the environmental impact of cultural events. The choice of the name Arco is symbolic, connecting a bridge between tradition and innovation: the architectural element is found in the creation of a space where dialogue and reflection can be transformed into new ideas and visions.
Special thanks are due to the galleries that placed their trust in the project and made it possible, together with the Augusto Rancilio Foundation and Segantini Unlimited, to realize this first exhibition: Daniele Agostini, Rolando Anselmi, Alfonso Artiaco, Raffaella Cortese, Monica de Cardenas, Grieder Contemporary, Matteo Lampertico, Julia Lechbinska, Lovay Fine Arts, Mendes Wood DM, Mai 36, Francesca Minini, Massimo Minini, Repetto Gallery, The Address, Tschudi, Viasaterna, Wizard.

Villa Arconati e Fondazione Augusto Rancilio
Located in the heart of the Parco delle Groane, only 10 km from the centre of Milan, Villa Arconati is one of the most important examples of a villa di delizia of the Milanese aristocracy. Built on the direct study of twelve of Leonardo da Vinci's Codices - including the Atlantic - kept here until 1637, it is a ten-thousand- square-metre palace and a twelve-hectare monumental park, which is today one of the very few examples of Italian and French-style gardens in Lombardy.
Its treasures include the so-called Pompeo Magno, one of the largest Roman statues in all of northern Italy; one of the very few frescoes by Fratelli Galliari, the set designers who inaugurated La Scala in Milan; and a Hall of Mirrors from the Lombard Baroque.
Fondazione Augusto Rancilio, the non-profit cultural organisation that owns the property, has been running a project to restore and enhance Villa Arconati since the early 2000s, promoting and supporting actions in the cultural, artistic and social fields.
